Walk-Off
From bridges on both sides we saw your majestic Dome
It took just one glance to remind us we were home
You nurtured teams early on, often as they were born
There was The Rays but also the Lightning and ironically The Tampa Bay Storm
Boggs, CC, Dave, McGriff and Zim were hallowed in your halls
While the voices of BA, Freed, Staats and Wills echoed through your walls
I felt for you when you were criticized, mocked as if you were a fool
But you continued to stand proud as you quietly kept your cool.
You hosted a Final Four, World Series, Hockey playoffs plus an Arena Bowl
While your music tastes varied from Cowbells to Metallica to Billy Joel
My friend you were innovative being one of the first for E-tix and credit cards throughout
Which left the only Cash that was needed was found in the Rays dugout
For a variety of entertainment we came through your voms to our seats
Sports, concerts, graduations we enjoyed them all in St Pete.
I am saying goodbye now sooner than I thought by a few years
Hopefully you will understand the reason for my tears.
An OJ toast to you my dear friend and often my second home
I bid you farewell realizing there was truly No Place Like Dome.
